Sancta Maria College has a long and proud tradition of sporting achievements. Challenge, teamwork and fun are all part of an exciting physical education programme that combines sport with a wide selection of leisure and fitness activities. Girls are encouraged to try the many different sports available such as Hockey, Tennis, Camógie, Gaelic Football, Soccer, Badminton, Athletics and Basketball and each year teams are fielded in all of the above.

Deeply mindful of research findings linking lack of physical activity to health and associated problems, the Physical Education Programme is a key component of the Sancta Maria College experience and offers students the opportunity to develop new skills and improve their fitness within a safe and well-supervised environment. Thanks to a substantial DES grant received in 2012 the college was in a position to upgrade and increase the stock of gymnastic and sports equipment for both indoor and outdoor activities.

The college boasts outstanding sporting amenities at the Sancta Maria College, Ballyboden Saint Enda’s Facility, which includes an All Weather Pitch, an Astro Turf Pitch, an Athletics Track, Hockey and Tennis Courts, Wall Ball etc. The Sancta Maria College redevelopment project, due to start in October/November 2014, will also include the erection of a large new P.E. Hall which will provide even better facilities than we currently have.
