Congratulations to Fortune Chukwu from 2nd year who competed at the All Ireland Club Athletics Championships in Athlone in March.  Fortune won gold in the 60 meter sprints and she also qualified for the 200m sprint final.

Almost 40 Sancta Maria College students attended the West Leinster Athletic Championships on 17th and 19th April.  Record entries were made with over 2,750 students from 56 schools taking part over the two days.  Sancta Maria College won 11 medals in total and all these students have qualified for the Leinster Finals on 16th and 19th May.

Irish Dancing:

During the Easter holidays, several Sancta Maria College students competed at the World Irish Dancing Championships.

Congratulations to both Caitlin Reardon from 3rd year who won the U.15 World Championships and Daniella Cooney from TY who was placed 3rd in her age division.  Well done to both of you.


Congratulations to Seona Gannon from 6th year who was named Karate Person of the Year in her club.

Seona, who competes for Ireland was in Scotland recently and brought home three bronze medals.


Niamh Coyne from TY competed at the Irish Open Swimming Championships over Easter.  Her continuing excellent form will see her travel to Morocco in May, Helsinki In July and Buenos Aires in October representing Ireland.

Anna Power from 2nd year will also be travelling to Helsinki in July to compete in the European Junior Championships in diving.

Well done to Olga Gosik from 2nd year who last year was outside the qualifying times for schools’ swimming.  Over the last year, she has put in great effort at training and two weeks ago, Olga competed in a gala very successfully, knocking minutes  off her time.  This will allow her to swim for Sancta Maria College next year.
